Heat recovery and ventilation systems

In homes and commercial or public premises, it is most convenient to install an automatic ventilation system: then you will not have to constantly open the windows, and the installed recuperator will regularly ensure impeccable indoor air quality. However, we can also offer solutions to those living and working in older buildings. If you have any questions when choosing ventilation system accessories, we invite you to consult with our team and choose the most suitable product.

Ventilation and air conditioning systems

Clean air and ventilation in the home and work environment is very important, especially considering the fact that We spend an average of 90% of our time indoors (ie ~21.5 hours per day). Unventilated rooms are full of various microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses and allergens, as well as dust and other airborne particles.

So, refreshing and renewing the air is possible through ventilation - a process that removes old air and brings in fresh air. Constantly opening windows is definitely not an option, so a much better solution is a professional ventilation system.

For several years now, all newly built houses that meet energy class A and higher have been required to install a ventilation system, also known as a recuperation system.

How do ventilation systems work?

Ventilation systems typically operate on the following principle: air from outside enters the heat exchanger through one duct, is then filtered and heated in the system, and is supplied to the environment through another duct.

Ventilation systems come in two types:

  • centralized, i.e. when ducts are routed throughout the premises;
  • decentralized, when a cavity is drilled in the wall and the mini recuperators or exhaust fans

Why should you install a ventilation system in your home?

Modern houses are very airtight, there are no gaps or cracks in their facades or between the windows, so it is natural that no air gets in. Therefore, artificial recuperative ventilation systems (artificial ventilation) are installed.

If a building with energy class A and higher does not have a ventilation system, we can expect the following unpleasant and unexpected phenomena that indicate poor air quality:

  • Mold. Mold begins to grow when the air does not circulate, the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) in it increases significantly, moisture condenses, and the relative humidity of the air exceeds 60 percent.
  • Allergens. Along with fresh air, opening a window also brings in allergens, particulate matter, etc.
  • Excess dust.
  • Unpleasant odors.
  • Other unwanted particles in the air.

Benefits and key advantages of a ventilation system

  • You are not dependent on weather conditions: air circulates at all times, no matter what the weather is like outside the window.
  • It allows for proper air circulation indoors, and the main advantage is that the air is changed regularly.
  • Helps maintain optimal indoor temperature (remember that, depending on the purpose of specific living spaces, the recommended temperature varies and ranges from ~19 to 25 °C).
  • The premises do not cool down, heating costs do not increase. In order to ensure the best possible air quality, the premises should be ventilated every 1–2 hours, and the windows should be kept open for up to a few minutes. However, on cold days, the premises cool down faster due to frequent ventilation. By choosing ventilation systems, there is no heat loss;
  • Cleans the air from various dirt, microorganisms, etc. The air entering the recuperator is filtered.
  • Purifies the air from unwanted odors: tobacco smoke, household chemicals, aromas left after food preparation, etc.
  • Helps remove excess moisture from rooms, which is harmful to building structures and leads to a deterioration in the properties of thermal insulation materials.
  • It is also possible to use energy from the ground, etc.

Ventilation systems: what equipment should you choose?

As you know, various innovations are first implemented in commercial premises, so many offices have long been equipped with professional recuperators.

However, mechanical ventilation is also rapidly gaining popularity among private homeowners. We certainly cannot give a single answer as to which ventilation system to choose. The decision is influenced by the type of building, your individual needs, financial capabilities, and other factors. So we invite you to consult: after receiving our consultation, your choice will definitely be easier!
